How it works

Thirty seconds to learn. A lifetime to master.

  1. Look around

Drag or swipe a real 360° street. Walk down the road and zoom in on signs, plates, road lines and plants.

  2. Drop your pin

Open the map and tap where you think you are. Narrow it down to a country, a region, even a city.

  3. Score & share

See the real spot and how far off you were. Up to 5,000 points a round, then challenge your friends.

Challenge a friend

Same five places. Who gets closer?

Finish any game and send the link. Your friend plays the exact same locations, then you both see who won. Or open a party room and play live together.

Questions

Good to know

Is WorldSnipe free?

Yes. Every mode is free to play in your browser with no download and no sign-up. The site is supported by a small number of ads shown between games — never while you are guessing.

How do I play?

You start somewhere in the world inside a 360° street photo. Drag to look around, look for clues like road signs, language, plants, cars and architecture, then drop a pin on the map. The closer your pin, the more points you get — up to 5,000 per round.

Where do the street photos come from?

They are real 360° panoramas shared by photographers and mappers on Wikimedia Commons, many originally captured for Mapillary. Every reveal credits the photographer and licence, and the full list is on our credits page.

How is the score calculated?

Each round is worth up to 5,000 points. Your score falls smoothly with the distance between your pin and the real location, so a guess in the right region still earns plenty. Country Streak counts how many countries in a row you get right.

Can I play with friends?

Yes — send a challenge link after any game so friends can play the exact same five places, or open a private party room for up to eight players with duels, teams and survival modes.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. WorldSnipe is built for phones first: swipe to look around, pinch to zoom and tap the map to guess. It also works great on tablets and desktop.

Is it like GeoGuessr?

If you enjoy GeoGuessr-style games you will feel at home: real street-level panoramas and a map to guess on. WorldSnipe is an independent game with its own free Daily Challenge, Country Streak, Speed Run and party modes.
